PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
